Around the time I was turning 26, I started to realize that I needed to preserve whatever good skin I had left and that meant ditching the Clean and Clear face wash/lotion combo I had been using for the last four years and getting my skincare actually under control. I've never had "problem skin," just the occasional breakout here or there, but I longed for a face with a smoother texture (and what every girl wants ... to not have to worry about wearing foundation).
My experimenting began with face masks (because face paint is fun), and I definitely saw noticeable results from that. GLAMGLOW has some of my faves.
Then came Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty sale in March, which included a different sale every day for 21 consecutive days. The promo calendar showed that Mario Badescu products were all scheduled to be 25 percent off toward the end of the month and I had recently gotten a buzz in my ear that it was a great brand. I went to the website and quickly saw how easy it was to learn what would best complement my skin type along with dozens of rave reviews for the products. Also, for products of this quality I expected them to be too expensive to buy consistently, but they're actually incredibly reasonably priced. Based off all of this, I made my first purchase of:
Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater ($12)
Seaweed Cleansing Soap ($14)
Seaweed Cleansing Lotion ($15)
Honey Moisturizer ($25)
I used the cleansing soap, cleansing lotion and moisturizer everyday, morning and night, for two weeks before truly judging it. There are no other ways to describe it, but after those couple weeks I felt like my face had found peace. Dryness? Gone. Blemishes? They stopped existing. Texture? Smoother than a velvet teddy bear.
It's been about five months of using these products consistently and I have happily ditched foundation from my makeup routine (which has also been super nice on my wallet). The facial spray has also been great for days when I'm not wearing any makeup at all and just want a subtle glow or for when I've spent all day in the sun and my skin is in serious need of a refresher.
Have I used other face washes this summer when I didn't want to exfoliate my freshly-tanned face with the seaweed in Mario Badescu's cleansing soap? Sure. But I've always come right back to it. I'm definitely looking forward to testing out more of the products this fall and winter, when my skin tends to get the driest. It's safe to say Mario Badescu is my skin savior and I'm officially hooked.
